INTRODUCTION:
The Quilted Bear stores operate four locations in Utah & Arizona (and one affiliate store in Nevada).   Our roots come directly from the craft industry where the company owner started as a crafter selling her items in craft shows over 16 years ago. Over the years she went from not only selling in temporary shows but also into sponsoring such shows. As the years went on, she decided it was time to open a permanent store—but a store like none else! In 1992 she opened what we believe is the largest and most successful permanent craft & gift store in the country! We have now duplicated our initial location’s success and operate several locations in the West United States.
 
The Quilted Bear’s concept is built upon stores located in great retail locations, selling high quality items, in a warm & entertaining environment! Each Quilted Bear store does well because we are able to average from 3,000 to 6,000 customer visits each week. Our goal is to always be the BEST home decor  & gift mall in the business!   We know however that our success only comes after your success, and that is why we need people like you!

STORE LOCATIONS:

Excellent retail locations (all stores are located inside major malls or within a few miles of them)

STORE DECORATION AND ATMOSPHERE:

  • Our shopping atmospheres are unsurpassed!  We make a shopping visit FUN!

  • Customers constantly say, "WOW! This place is incredible!"

  • All crafters are juried to ensure high quality and minimal merchandise duplication.

VENDOR  SALES:

  • Sales in each location exceed well over One Million dollars annually.

  • We advertise heavily (99% of our advertising dollar goes to attracting customers—not crafters)!

  • To encourage large purchases we have our own custom-made shopping carts and hand-baskets.

  • Customer traffic is excellent! Each store uses between 3 to 8 cash registers to handle the customer traffic!

  • Customers on average shop for over 2 hours in our showrooms. That is partly because each Quilted Bear is so HUGE  . . .ranging from 14,000 sq. ft. to 37,000 sq. ft. each! It’s these large sizes with a huge variety of items that help attract people from all over! We often get people that fly into town from other states just to shop with us.

  • We have many many crafters that sell well in excess of 10 TIMES their booth fee each month (e.g., Booth fee of $100 but sales of $1000 or more).

  • We have vendors that tell us they are in over 200 other craft malls throughout the country and that their sales in our stores are always in their top 10!

OUR  STORES  AND  EMPLOYEES:

  • State-of-the-art security systems and computerized sales and inventory systems (vendors have the ability to lookup their daily sales on our Internet site {www.quiltedbear.com}).

  • Our stores are carpeted throughout and are sparkling clean from the aisleways to the bathrooms.

  • Some of our locations have an in-store restaurant to handle hungry customers. These restaurants help encourage customers to shop longer because they can take a break from shopping and have lunch or a snack.

  • There is no charge for using inventory-tracking numbers.

  • No bad check or Visa charges are passed on to vendors.

  • For our customers, we offer Special Orders, Layaways and Gift Certificates.

  • You don’t even have to step into our stores to sell in them. We can decorate, sell, and restock for you.

  • Our company attitude towards you the vendor is: We Don’t Succeed Until You Succeed!  We take this motto very seriously because we can only succeed if our vendors are succeeding.

HOW TO LICENSE A SPACE:
Please click on the link at the bottom of this page for our Jury Application and send it in with photographs or samples of your work  (Sorry, photographs & samples cannot be returned). Also, please indicate on the form which location you would be interested in joining and include duplicate pictures if you wish to join more than one. The Quilted Bear selects crafters based on two areas of criteria: 1) Quality of workmanship, and 2) Variety of items {compared with others already in that particular store}.

OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS:

  • Stores retain either an 11% (Utah Stores) or 12% (Arizona & Nevada) commission on all handmade sales.

  • Booth sizes range from 4ft wide up to 8ft wide (in 1 ft. increments) and are either 2ft or 3ft deep.

  • Booth prices begin around $72/month (4x2) but pricing will vary form location to location.  For exact pricing, you will need to contact the respective store you are looking into joining.

  • Booths are licensed in six-month increments.

  • Vendors are paid once per month. Booth rent and commissions are automatically deducted from sales totals so you don’t have to worry about sending checks.

  • 1st month's booth rent and a security deposit (of a similar amount) are required up-front.
